As we approach the end, unusual environmental and atmospheric conditions continue to occur with greater frequency. For those of us on the East Coast, the DC earthquakeand Hurricane Irene are two very recent examples. On their heels comes a tornado in New York! While not as rare as the quake or hurricane, it is yet another oddity in an increasingly odd world.

It is extremely rare for residents of New Jersey to witness a tornado. Yet, during yesterday’s sudden afternoon storm, one Perth Amboy resident shot this video footage showing the formation of a funnel cloud. Whether the funnel ever actually touched down in New Jersey is uncertain from this footage. But, for those of you curious to witness it yourselves, you can observe a small funnel drop down from the cloud formation at about 2:20 into the video.
