While we’re on the subject of reverse mortgages , The Federal government has allocated $75 billion dollars to subsidize lenders and servicers who offer a loan workout to their clients. Now, the banks will have a monetary incentive to offer help to qualified borrowers. In addition, homeowners who pay their new modified payments on time will be eligible up to $5000 credit to their loan balance.

Since we’re on a reverse mortgage, Of the supposed 400,000 families that were to be shielded from foreclosure, as of this report, approximately 400 loans (that’s right 400 total) have been refinanced. Industry executives correctly called the program “useless” because of its onerous details.
